Shoreline Library

So last night, Michelle and I walked to the library to get cd's for her to upload to her mp3 player. I was annoying her (as usual) so she told me to go read a book. I was actually able to finish this one while we were there and it was really cute. She also checked out the one I didn't get to finish reading and I'm reading it at their house now, it's the Chocolate Cake Sutra, interesting so far.

I forgot how much I like libraries, they are so cool. Reminds me of my dream to own a bookshop, new and used with a cafe' in the corner. Maybe with jazz nights, like the one in Dupont Circle in Washington DC, that was a cool bookstore.

A Real Friend

Got this in my e-mail this morning and had to chuckle because it's so very true about your real friends.

A REAL FRIEND
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself and doesn't feel even the least bit weird shutting your 'Pepsi drawer' with her foot!

A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend shoulder is soggy from your tears.

A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.

A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.

A simple friend hates it when you call after they’ve gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.

A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it!

A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!

recipes

Yippee, I'm finally getting my butt in gear with this blog thing. I've been wanting to put up recipes from the family and my recipe box but have been fiddling around instead of just doing it! So officially today I'm going to start, these are not low calorie, good for you recipes for the most part; most are just things I've had forever.

Marching in like a lion? or mongoose? maybe a kangaroo with a.d.d?

Saturday night, Michelle and I went dancing; we had a great time and when we got home at about 2:30am it was a balmy 40° and a bit breezy. Imagine what came out of my mouth (something along the lines of "oh shit it snowed") when I got up about 6 hours later and looked outside. We had these giant palm sized snowflakes falling, it was really cool.

At some point these will bloom and be daffodils, not today.

Finally, I just sat and watched it snow for awhile, this should end soon, supposedly spring is coming.
Later in the afternoon the wind kicked up and the power went out; we sat in the living room looking out this window and watched it snow, rain, hail, blow and sunshine all in the space of half an hour. What a wild, wacky weather day!

March in Seattle

So on Wednesday last week I was driving home from work and I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this sign.

Here it is a gorgeous sunny day with a snow closure sign leaning up against the No Parking post, because with the wonky weather here in Seattle we had snow the day before the gorgeous sun. I was even driving with my sun roof open, that's how gorgeous it was.

Project Linus

Today was a fun day! Erin and I went to Parkland Parish and participated in Make A Blanket Day with Project Linus. Those ladies are always so much fun and we amazingly get a lot accomplished in amongst all the giggling and talking. Erin tied two quilts and I got one mostly finished. We came home with about 7 quilts to work on. They showed me how to do the coolest quilt as you go eye spy quilt and I have the fabric to make at least 3 for Linus.

Matt made us a delicious spaghetti dinner tonight and we watched Steel Magnolias and Notting Hill; while I tidied my sewing corner so I can get busy on baby quilts for Isaac. It's been a lovely evening at home with the kids and dogs.

Now off to put my clean laundry away before I go to sleep.

Feeling sorry for myself and my 1st hat!

Doctor was right - don't you hate it when they are right. He apologized to me last week because he said things were going to be rough. So I've had a headache ever since and I'm crabby as crabby can possibly be and I'm bloated and people are really super irritating to me and and and.... And then there is the issue of the crap in my nose! I get an infection, not like a typical sinus infection but an infection because of all the snot and the rawness in my nose. So he says stick this on a q-tip and shove it up your nose; don't doctors usually tell you NOT to put things up your nose?

oooh, think I will post some more photos........first the funny story......so Thanksgiving weekend 2007 I'm sitting at a friend's house knitting away just trying to keep myself together and working on scarves for the homeless with my scrap yarns. So my friend who is in the early stages of fighting cancer, "you can make scarves for homeless people, but not make the cancer patient a hat?" So I promised him a hat, this is the first one I made and I goobered on the top part where it all came together, but his 2nd hat looked much nicer. I was just proud of myself for knitting in the round and finishing something!

Psssst...don't remind him that I haven't finished the matching scarf, hey he got the matching black set already and the blue is just so boring in a scarf.

Snowstorm 2008

So here in the great northwest we had some incredible snow this winter. I didn't upload all of them, just a couple, you will get the idea. I had this brilliant idea to stay with friends who live one house from the bus stop and ended up snowed in for 5 days twice, lol. So here are the adirondack chairs in their backyard. This is the street by the bus stop.

This is my bus struggling to get up the hill. I got off and walked faster than bus.
One of the problems in Seattle with the snow is that Mayor McCheese doesn't believe in de-icer, he is so adamant against de-icer that you would think it was immoral. So, they spread like 12 tons of sand instead and the roads were just a horrid mess.

I am alive!

Decided it was time to do some work on the old blogaroo. Finally uploading pictures that have been on my camera card for months.

Trying to get energetic on this extra day off work that doubles as a Monday. But with the dog snoring next to me and nothing pressing to do I'm not doing so well at getting energetic.

Really thinking about the sewing machine in the living room and how I could get out there and do something fabulous.

Also thinking I could drag my carcass over to Comcast and exchange the modem thingy that comes from them because its not working right and making a clacking sound.

Photos are uploaded so let's see what I can find to post.

29 January 2009

I figure it's about time I post something! I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, just have been in a pretty blah mood. So, here is something to cheer me up and get me all excited again.

This is the baby's latest ultrasound photo. He's due on May 11, 2009; name Isaac Gavin.....can't wait to be a grandma.
